Do I have to send you my passport to get a Sierra Leone visa? Is it safe to send a passport?
Yes. You will need to send your actual passport, not a copy of it. The Sierra Leone visa is stamped on your passport and will become one of your passport pages. Visa request cannot be processed without your original passport. Because of the importance of your passport, we strongly suggest that you send your application by a secure method, such as a guaranteed postal service or courier.

  1. Passport

    The applicant's actual passport. The passport must: 

    • Be valid for six months beyond exit date
    • Have at least one blank visa page

  2. Proof of Residency

    A copy of the applicant's residency or work permit for their place of residence

  3. Photograph(s)

    You must provide two colour, passport type photographs that meet the following criteria:

    • Be taken within the last three months and printed on high quality photo paper
    • Be taken against an all white background
    • Be 35 mm by 45mm in size
    • Provide the full frontal view of your head with your face centered in the middle and displaying a neutral (non-smiling) expression
    • You may wear neither spectacles nor headwear except for religious purposes
    • Your photos should not be affixed to your application and they may not display evidence of adhesive or staples
    • Be identical

  4. Business Introduction Letter

    An original letter of introduction from the applicant's employer in Switzerland. This letter must:

    • Be on company letterhead paper
    • Specify the purpose of journey
    • Specify the length of visa required
    • Include an acceptance of financial responsibility for the applicant
    • Be signed and stamped
    • State the applicant's current position in the company
    • Be in English only

  5. Proof of Travel Arrangements

    Details of travel arrangements. This must be provided as:

    • A copy of the flight confirmation showing onward/return travel
    • A copy of the hotel confirmation

  6. Yellow Fever Certificate

    One copy of yellow fever certificate

  7. Photocopy of Passport ID Page

    A clear copy of the information page(s) from the applicant's national passport

  8. Visa Application Form(s)

    One fully completed and signed application form

  9. CIBTvisas Order Confirmation

    For orders placed on the CIBTvisas website, a copy of the Online Order Confirmation which is sent to you via email, must be submitted.


    For all other orders, and where applicable, a completed CIBTvisas Visa Order Form which can be found in the CIBTvisas Application Pack should be submitted.
